Welcome!

Welcome to my artistic journey! I am an artist based in the vibrant heart of New York, where the energy of the city fuels my creativity. My passion for art began in childhood, but it was during the period of COVID that I truly discovered my artistic voice. This time of reflection and introspection allowed me to hone my techniques and explore new realms of expression.

My work primarily revolves around the female body through mediums like mixed media, surrealism, and collage art. I find joy in blending these styles, often allowing them to collide in unexpected ways, creating pieces that invite viewers to explore the layers of meaning within. Each artwork is a unique exploration of my thoughts, emotions, and experiences, crafted with care and a deep appreciation for every piece.

I have also had the privilege of hosting two art shows, one at The Brooklyn Art Cave, one of my favorite galleries in Brooklyn. This experience was incredible and allowed me to share my work with a wider audience.

When I’m not creating in my studio, you can find me relaxing on a beach, hanging out with my friends, or exploring the city’s artistic landscapes with my beautiful dog, Willow.

Thank you for joining me on this creative journey. I hope my art resonates with you and sparks your imagination!

Then in 2024 Michelle organizes her second art show, showcasing pieces that delve into the diverse expressions of femininity, inviting dialogue around identity, strength, vulnerability, and food.

Artist Statement

As a self-taught emerging visual artist, I express myself through mixed media and sculpture to create a unique visual signature. Alongside my studies in the visual arts, my diverse artistic approach allows me to create visual artworks that reflect pieces of my past, my present, and my future. It also fulfills my desire to connect with a wider audience and bring art to sometimes unexpected people and places, while giving me great freedom of expression.

, nature, dreams, and nostalgia is a constant source of inspiration for me. The expression of emotions that emerges from my work now means more to me than any slavish copy of reality. Whatever the medium, I use abstract language, and I distort reality to bring out what is essential—pure emotion. I’m not devoted either to figurative or abstract styles—For me, this approach is like an open door to dialogue. My work is also inspired by some of my favorite artists: Howardena Pindell, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Frida Kahlo.

Regardless of the medium, my deeply considered approach allows me to go beyond realism and to give a different feel to my compositions. I simplify forms and break down the spectrum to obtain subtle variations in brightness and contrast. I am inspired in my approach by an insatiable thirst for research and I experience osmosis between life around me and my different interactions with people. Experience provides me with a mix of ideas, images, and emotions that come together in a rhythmic and colorful picture.

Every canvas is a great project, It begins with a pencil or charcoal line and a range of colors in my head. Music and podcasts gives me a burst of energy that lets me create works that combine the immediate moment, my mood, and the subject I want to explore. I lay down a structural background to suggest movement, which I then cover with warm colors. The paintings take material shape out of my brush strokes, and when I start a painting, I insist on spontaneity.

I am constantly seeking to push my creative boundaries, and I strongly believe everything can be used in the service of art, the slightest piece of glass, magazine clipping or piece of fabric. It all starts with the materials I choose, based on their shape, color and thickness. At times I can be a bit of a perfectionist, but I am always curious and constantly working in multiple pieces at the same time. My technique allows me to dream up my next works. My creations are part of my quest to reveal the qualities of raw, natural materials alongside recycled objects. Although my works are fragmented, colorful and textured, they are an image of the energy that I draw from the resilience of nature and my own challenges.

My current day job and my social life allows me the privilege of being surrounded by creative people who nourish me and contribute to the development of my art. This closeness makes me push myself a little every day to imagine possibilities all around me and constantly absorb information that stimulates my creativity.
